If there's any nation that can claim to have it all it's the Mediterranean island nation of Malta. Made up of three islands: Malta, Gozo, and the small, uninhabited Comino are all situated south of Sicily and north of Tunisia and Libya at almost the precise center of the sparkling blue sea.

 

At 330 square kilometers Malta is comparable in size to many large European cities. But that's where the comparisons end because Malta is like no other country in the world. 

 

From great limestone and sandy beaches to prehistoric rock tombs and temples, centuries-old limestone churches, self-contained villages, diverse coastal landscapes, ancient-walled cities, modern night life, seaside restaurants, casinos, cafes, and hotels, to impressive treasure-filled museums plus a brave drive toward European Union membership this coming May, everything seems to be happening at once in Malta.
